Sanjay Gangwar ("we", "us", "the developer") built mBuddy as an Android application for chatting with AI personalities. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.
Data You Provide
- Account — email via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In.
- Chat messages — text messages you send to AI personalities.
- Preferences — selected personalities, display settings.
How Your Data Is Used
- Chat messages are transmitted to our backend at api.sanjaygangwar.dev, which forwards prompts to an LLM provider (Ollama Cloud) to generate responses.
- Chat history may be stored server-side so you can resume prior conversations.
- We do not sell your chat data or share it for advertising purposes.
Third-Party AI Providers
mBuddy uses Ollama Cloud as its LLM provider. Prompts you send are transmitted to Ollama's servers for inference. See the Ollama privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Permissions
- INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Required for AI chat.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Optional. Reminders and proactive messages.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Authentication — account auth. Firebase Privacy.
- Ollama Cloud — LLM inference. See link above.
- Google AdMob — Free tier ads. Google Privacy.
- Meta Audience Network — ad mediation fallback. Meta Privacy.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy.
Children's Privacy
mBuddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account and chat history at any time from Settings. Deletion removes data from our servers within 30 days. Backups may retain data for up to 90 additional days.
Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Firebase.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when new features are added. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
