Sanjay Gangwar ("we", "us", "the developer") built mPets as an Android application for tracking pet walks, weight, vet visits, and reminders. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.
The short version: Pet profiles and tracking data are stored locally on your device by default. If you opt into cloud sync, data is synced to our backend at api.sanjaygangwar.dev. The app uses ad and subscription SDKs which collect device-level data per their own policies.
Data You Provide
- Pet profile — name, species, breed, weight, date of birth, photo (optional).
- Walk logs — distance, duration, route (if you enable location tracking for a walk).
- Weight history, vet visits, medication reminders — data you enter manually.
Data Stored Locally
By default, all your pet data is stored locally on your device only, in Android's standard app storage. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable cloud sync, your pet profiles and tracking data are transmitted to our backend at api.sanjaygangwar.dev for backup and multi-device sync. You can disable sync at any time from Settings.
Permissions and Why We Need Them
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION — Optional. Used only when you start a walk to record the route.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Medication, walk, and vet-visit reminders.
- CAMERA / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES — Optional. Attach a pet photo.
- INTERNET — Ads, subscription verification, optional cloud sync.
Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob — Free tier ads. Google Privacy.
- Meta Audience Network — ad mediation fallback. Meta Privacy.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy.
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) — crash reporting and anonymous usage metrics. Firebase Privacy.
Children's Privacy
mPets is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data Security
Local data is protected by Android's app sandboxing. Cloud-synced data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords (if account sync is used) are hashed server-side.
Your Rights
You can delete your data at any time by signing out (removes cloud-sync copy) and uninstalling the app (removes local copy). For account data deletion requests, email us at the contact below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when new features are added. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
