Sanjay Gangwar ("we", "us", "the developer") built AlertBox as an Android application that reads payment-related SMS aloud using text-to-speech, designed for accessibility and for shopkeepers. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.
The short version: AlertBox parses SMS messages locally on your device to extract payment amounts. The SMS content, amounts, and parsed data never leave your device. The app uses ad and subscription SDKs (see below) which collect device-level data per their own policies.
Data Collection by the App Itself
AlertBox itself does not collect or transmit SMS content, parsed amounts, or personal data to any server we operate.
- No user accounts or registration required.
- SMS parsing is performed entirely on-device.
- Transaction history (if enabled) is stored locally only.
Data Stored on Your Device
- Parsed transaction history — amount, sender, and timestamp extracted from matching SMS.
- Per-sender rules and preferences — TTS voice, muted senders, volume overrides.
- App settings — theme, language, notification preferences.
All local data is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Permissions and Why We Need Them
AlertBox reads incoming SMS messages solely to detect and announce payment-related transactions. SMS content is parsed locally on the device. The app does not transmit, upload, or share SMS content with any server. You can revoke SMS permission at any time from Android system settings; the app will continue to work for other features but will no longer read payment alerts.

- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Show a persistent notification while the TTS service is running.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE — Keep the TTS reader alive in the background so alerts are announced even when the app is closed.
- INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Serve ads (Free tier) and verify subscription status (Premium tier).
Third-Party Services
AlertBox integrates the following third-party SDKs, each subject to their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob — serves ads on the Free tier. Google Privacy Policy.
- Meta Audience Network — ad mediation fallback. Meta Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — subscription management for the "Remove Ads" Premium tier. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics) — crash diagnostics and anonymous usage analytics. Firebase Privacy.
Children's Privacy
AlertBox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data Security
All local data is protected by Android's app sandboxing. No SMS content is transmitted off-device by AlertBox.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when new features are added. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
